Iron washed fabric. Cut out fabric to desired width including seam allowance. For example, if you want a napkin that measures 18" x 18" with 1/4" seams then you would need to cut a piece of fabric that is 19" x 19".

With wrong side facing up, fold fabric along edges toward centre by desired seam allowance and press in place.

At the corners, measure and mark double the seam allowance from each vertex. For example, if you folded the edge in by 1/4", then you would measure and mark 1/2" from each corner. Draw a line connecting these points.

Fold the corner in half with right sides together.

Sew along the line, backstitching to secure the stitches.

Trim the seam to 1/8" and clip the corner.

Carefully turn right side out. You should now have a nice mitred corner.

Repeat for the other three corners.

Press seams in place.

Sew along the edge, backstitching at beginning and end.

Happy Sewing!
